Closing the disability employment gap.
From training organisations on how to support their staff, to giving disabled and neurodivergent people the tools they need to thrive.
Our mission is to provide a circular solution that makes sure everyone wins.
We connect the dots between talent-short organisations and talented disabled professionals.
Employing disabled people is not an act of charity, it’s the smart thing to do. At SIC, we’re proving that disabled people are one of the biggest untapped sources of talent in the UK economy, and that for organisations, shifting to an inclusive and accessible work culture means breaking down barriers for everyone.
It’s time that D&I includes Disability.
Providing valuable solutions to the disabled community - for free.
Everything we do to serve the disabled community will always be free. As a social enterprise, we fund all the support we offer through grants and through our consulting and workshops.
Our goal is to increase the support we offer each year. We currently provide a range of free events, free e-learning, a monthly newsletter, and our online magazine to our community.
When we do hire, we hire from this community.
Businesses who decide to work with us are supporting the UK’s social economy and boosting the support we can offer disabled professionals. Eventually, our goal is to sustain our operations through our paid work with businesses and commercial organisations.
Thank you for making a difference to our community and for supporting the SIC mission.
Over 90% of companies claim to prioritise diversity, yet only 4% consider disability in their initiatives.
It simply isn’t good enough. At SIC, we believe disabled talent should be part of every business’ employee strategy, and there are so many reasons why:
Nearly one in four of the working-age population are classed as disabled, while those reporting long-term health conditions continues to rise
The disability employment rate is currently just 53.6%
The disability unemployment rate is 7.1%, compared to 3.5% for non-disabled people - meaning a huge pool of untapped talent
The total spending power of families with at least one disabled person is estimated at £274 billion a year
Diverse teams are 87% better at making decisions
Diverse management teams lead to 19% higher revenue.
