Disabled focus group participants needed!
We are looking for fifteen participants to contribute to an evaluation of Sound + Vision at Bradford’s Science & Media Museum.
Sound & Vision contains over 500 exhibits across two galleries, including a range of subjects like gaming, radio, TV, and music. It is interactive and the Museum has a range of resources to make the exhibit more accessible which we will be reviewing.
You will participate in two in-person visits to the Science & Media Museum with the SIC team, and four online sessions via Zoom, using your experience of disability to assess what is good about accessibility and what might need to change.
We are looking for:
Blind and visually impaired people
d/Deaf and hard of hearing people
Neurodivergent people*, including but not limited to autistic, ADHD, and dyslexic participants
You are especially welcome to apply if you represent more than one of these groups, or have other disabilities alongside them.
Participants must be based in a BD or LS postcode.
We are particularly interested in the experiences of those who are from multiply marginalised backgrounds, particularly those who are Black, Asian, working class, or LGBTQ+, as well as those for whom English is not their first language.
If you have not been to a museum before, do not worry - we want to hear from everyone who can bring a unique perspective!
Participants will receive a total of £270 for 2x visits to the Science and Media Museum in-person (around 2.5hrs each) and 4x online sessions via Zoom (around 2 hours each)**
We are also able to pay for expenses such as travel costs to the Museum or for accessibility needs like support workers.
If this is of interest to you, please fill in our form below and tell us about yourself.
If this form is inaccessible, you are welcome to email us on hello@sicofficial.co.uk for support or to send us information via voicenotes.
*Self-identifying - no formal diagnosis needed
